What is an Echo Print?
The art process is known as eco printing, or botanical printing.
Blank-canvas sheets of paper are treated with a mordant, then layered between sheets of colored cardstock and plant life, and pressed together in bundles to be immersed in boiling water.
The chemical reaction causes color to bleed out of the cardstock and transfers a fossilized image of the pressed plant to the card forever.
Once dried and ironed, the cards are complete and suitable for gifting, framing, and bookmarking.
The process is delightfully unpredictable, and therefore each finished card is truly unique!

Echo Prints are one-of-a-kind and not reproducible. One leaf, frond, or flower will produce one print. Papers, also, are used once. Changing the colors in the layers of each batch lend to the uniqueness of the prints. The prints are lasting keepsakes, bringing the beauty of nature into any home.
Excess paper is cut to make tags and bookmarks. Prints that are not as distinctive are used by the artist and her friends as collage paper. You may read more about Tracy's Echo Print adventures on her blog!
